Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University; Prof. Dr. Taha Ashour, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Dr. Amany Abdelrahman Abbas, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ehab Mostafa El-Nahas, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with Dr. Hany Shams El-Din, Director of the Qalyubia Directorate of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Marionette Nassif, Director of the Animal Health Research Institute – Benha Branch, and coordinated by Ms. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Kandil, Director of the Faculty's Veterinary Teaching Hospital, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine organized a free veterinary outreach convoy to El-Shamout Village, Benha District, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, as part of the Faculty's and the University's ongoing commitment to serving the local community.
During the convoy, veterinary teams conducted comprehensive clinical examinations of various animal species and provided free diagnosis and treatment for all examined cases.
The convoy served a total of 69 buffaloes and cattle, 90 sheep and goats, 34 equines, and performed ultrasonographic examinations on 50 additional farm animals. It also examined and treated 860 poultry cases, including chickens, ducks, and pigeons. In addition, the team carried out nine surgical procedures, performed somatic cell count (SCC) analysis of milk samples for two cases, and conducted microscopic laboratory examinations for 86 cases. All medications and veterinary services were provided free of charge.
The outreach convoy was carried out with the participation of faculty members and teaching assistants from the clinical departments, veterinarians from the Faculty's Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, reflecting the Faculty's dedication to community engagement, practical training, and the promotion of animal health and livestock productivity.
